My father, Grant Stockdale, was a great friend of John F. Kennedy's and served, among other things, as his Ambassador to Ireland, so we lived in Dublin until my father decided we would go home to Coral Gables.

A week after the assassination, I was taken out of sixth grade and brought home where my mother told me, "Daddy couldn't live without the President."

These are poems of a suicide survivor, of hope, of humor, and of faith in God.
